Just hundred and fifty years ago Tien-Shan was an
enigma for european gegraphy. Knowledge about this distance land one
could get just from the tales of China merchants and buddhistic
pilgrims. Only in 1856-57 yy. famous russian geographer
Semenov(Semenov-Tien-Shanskiy in future) explore this land for
european science. From Kok Djar valley Semenov made an ascent on the
pass with the same name. Unbelievable sight of mountain ridges was
shown to Semenov. «In the middle of those giants one was rising,
sharply different with others by altitude, snow-wide pointed
pyramid». First it was climbed in 1931 by Expedition of Mikhail
Pogrebetski, after long and thorough study in previous years. |
